Stephen Sargeant
Cryptocurrency Compliance Consultant
I was born, raised and have only worked in Toronto, Canada. I started off in the financial services and transitioned into the paralegal field. I always felt that although I had knowledge, it was difficult to be included in conversations or have my ideas heard, because I wasn’t a “lawyer”. I got into Compliance, specifically in cryptocurrency, because seniority or position (although important), didn’t hold as much weight as knowledge.

What advice would you give to the 15-18 year old version of yourself?Do What You Want. Not What Your Parents Think You Should Do, Not What All Your Friends Are Doing, Not What People Say You Would Be Good At. Simply, Do What You Want In Your Gut.
5 years ago I didn’t know what Compliance was, nor did I care to know. I just kept on following my passions, I wasn’t scared to change course or completely change industries and I just kept on progressing moving forward and trusting my gut. I’m still evolving as I write this, as I’m not going to focus on becoming a content creator instead of just a compliance consultant. There is no wrong. As long as you feel good about what you are doing, keep going.
