Norma Nicholson
Retired Registered Nurse
Born in Jamaica, abandoned by a teenage mother (homeless), given to an elderly grandmother. Attended school only at age 8 and mentored by a teacher who saw and supported my learning needs. After the death of my grandmother, lived with an aunt in whose home I underwent the most horrific abuse and neglect. Ran away (homeless).
Found my father, won a scholarship to attend high school..graduated with honours. Came to Canada as a domestic worker, focused on volunteering in a hospital setting where I found my passion for nursing. I saw the positive impact nurses make daily in the lives of others. Chose that career for 46 years.

Hope and fear cannot occupy the same space at the same time, so spend time focusing on what you would like to achieve.
I see changes happening, when each of us act so I let the change begin with me,.
Nothing can stop the man/woman with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal especially where he has another human being’s support. Effective leaders must be lifelong learners, plants learn something new everyday. Service to others is the rent you pay here on earth, so give back, pay forward where you can.
The rewards for those who persevere far exceeds the pain that must precede the victory… even when you hurt, strive to get up and try again.
